Veronica’s Room by Ira Levin

This chilling mystery thriller by the author of Rosemary’s Baby explores the thin line between fantasy and reality, madness and murder. Students Susan and Larry find themselves as guests enticed to the Brabissant mansion by its dissolute caretakers, the lonely Mackeys. Struck by Susan’s strong resemblance to Veronica Brabissant, the long-dead daughter of the family for whom they work, the older couple gradually induce her to impersonate Veronica briefly to solace the only living Brabissant, her addled sister who believes Veronica remains alive. Dressed in Veronica’s clothes, Susan finds herself locked in the role and locked in Veronica’s room. Or is she Veronica, in 1935, pretending to be an imaginary Susan?🎟️:

Meet Gaston

Meet Gaston — a regular at the Lapin Agile with plenty to say and absolutely no shortage of opinions. 🍷😂Gaston brings humor, heart, and a wonderfully ordinary perspective to a bar filled with extraordinary personalities. Surrounded by artists, inventors, and dreamers, he somehow manages to keep up… most of the time. Charming, curious, and delightfully relatable, Gaston is one of the many unforgettable characters you’ll meet in Steve Martin’s clever comedy about art, science, and the people caught in between. 🎭✨Make sure to get your tickets to this afternoon’s matinee performance of PICASSO AT THE LAPIN AGILE!

Behind it, a performer in a rust plaid jacket stands on a bar-room table with both arms flung up, another performer watching from behind the bar. Two pop-art cut-outs are pasted over the lower left: a figure in a striped shirt and a figure with wild white hair in red sunglasses.

Volunteer FAQs

What is a Truffle Pig?

We call our volunteers Truffle Pigs because truffle pigs are a type of pig trained to go out and hunt for truffles - very valuable mushrooms. Likewise, when FTE began, looking for shows that showcased our mission made volunteers feel like pigs hunting for truffles

Why do I need to sign the Code of Conduct?

Because FTE is an organization that puts its volunteers first. Our goal is to provide you with a positive experience when working with us. And because we often delve into sensitive topics in our productions, it’s important that we approach all of our theater work safely, cooperatively, and with kindness.

What are some of the things I can do as a volunteer?

Volunteers come in all shapes and sizes here at FTE. Most frequently we are in need of volunteers to help us run box office, tend the bar, or usher audience members to their seats during a show run. You don’t have to be available for every night, but signing up for one of these opportunities on our Facebook is a great help. If you’re interested in theater production, we can also always use volunteer crew members to build/paint the set (set crew), change scenes during a performance (run crew), help actors with costume changes (dressers), or take on specialty jobs like Costumes, Sound/Lights, Stage Managing, Directing, etc. If you aren’t sure where to start, ask our volunteer coordinator at FTEVolunteers@fredtheatre.org

How do I get into Leadership?

Most leadership positions require some tenure with FTE; however, we’re always happy for anyone taking initiative to be a leader. If you’re interested in directing a show or being a lead designer, you’ll need to assist a current director/designer for a season first (email the Artistic Director for more information). If you want to join leadership teams that make decisions, you may want to start with our various committees. Committees generally don’t require anything more than the drive to get tasks done and are great places to show your leadership qualities.

Is Acting in a show also Volunteering?

It very much is! FTE is a fully volunteer run organization. Many of our volunteers run the gamut from design to performance to administration. Any time you spend at the theater as a volunteer is greatly appreciated!

What can I do if I want to work on a specific show?

If you hear about a show we’re producing in the upcoming season and wish to join the production team, please reach out to our Artistic Director to find out what opportunities are available at that time.
